Do you want to increase your vocabulary for a specific sport? Would you like to improve your comprehension when someone is speaking? Or maybe you want to be more familiar with phrases that are used in your favorite mountain activity? To master another language, it is helpful to have tools.
International Mountain Connection has three main tools to help you go to the next language level!
Do you want to improve your vocabulary for mountain activities? Follow us on Instagram! THREE times a week a new word is posted, but we don’t stop there.
First you see an image that corresponds with the word. This is helpful for visual learners! Associating a word with an image helps you remember the new word you are learning.
Next, you see the vocabulary word and you hear it pronounced. In addition to learning good prononciation, this also helps you train your ear. Words sound different when they are said by a native speaker. This is a great way to become more familiar with a native accent.
It is best to learn words in context, so we added three sentences that use the new vocabulary word. These sentences help you understand the meaning of the word and show you how it can be used the next time you are up in the mountains! Check out our Instagram page here.
YouTube
In addition to Instagram, we also post videos on YouTube. Videos are great to improve your language skills, but it’s not always easy to find a video that is:
- based on a mountain activity,
- available with subtitles AND a transcript to download, and
- isn’t too technical!
Our videos give you the opportunity to practice your listening comprehension skills and reinforce technical vocabulary.
We are working very hard to get our first videos out! When they are uploaded, you can view them on our YouTube channel. To receive notifications for new videos, click here to subscribe! Don’t miss out!

Our Blog
Our last tool for success is this blog! Reading is great because it helps reinforce vocabulary and comprehension skills. Each time you are exposed to a new word, you increase the probability of retaining it into long-term memory.
In our blog we talk about different kinds of mountain activities and we offer tips to help you on your language learning journey. And for fun, we also include some of our latest adventures in the mountains from guest bloggers!
Check out our blog! And remember to click on the red button, “I Want to Follow IMC!” to get notifications of our new posts.
As our community grows, more tools will become available. We hope you find something that helps you on your language journey and we look forward to your next visit.
See you soon!
